Overview

Linesight is seeking an experienced MEP Senior Cost Manager to join our dynamic team supporting the procurement of mechanical and electrical trades for large-scale data center construction projects across North America. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring consistency and efficiency in the procurement process, working closely with both Linesight and the client’s procurement teams, as well as client stakeholders, GCs and subcontractors. 

The Opportunity

In this role you will: 

 

  • MEP Trade Guidance: Provide procurement oversight & guidance to GCs in the sourcing of mechanical and electrical trades, ensuring due diligence, benchmarking, and best practices are followed. 
  • Standardization and Process Improvement: Drive consistency across the client's portfolio by standardizing procurement processes, templates, and documentation for GC and subcontractor engagement. 
  • Commercial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive bid analysis, evaluate pricing structures, and develop negotiation plans to secure the best value for the client. 
  • Market Intelligence: Stay informed on market conditions, supplier capacities, and labor availability to guide decision-making and mitigate procurement risks. 
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with GCs, subcontractors, and suppliers, fostering collaboration and ensuring successful project delivery. 
  • Risk Management: Identify and address risks in the procurement process, including labor shortages and resource constraints, to minimize delays and cost overruns. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with all stakeholders, including Linesight’s project teams, the client’s procurement organization and all client stakeholders, to align procurement strategies and ensure smooth communication across all parties. 
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present procurement reports, ensuring transparency and accountability in all procurement activities. 

 

We would love to hear from you if you: 

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management or related field. 
  • Have 7+ years of procurement experience, preferably in large-scale construction or data center projects. 
  • Proven experience in managing the procurement of mechanical/electrical trades. 
  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, contract negotiations, and supplier management. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess market conditions and make data-driven decisions. 
  • Commercial Analysis Expertise: Ability to provide bid analysis and develop negotiation strategies. 
  • US Market Knowledge: Experience working in the US with knowledge of subcontractors, unions, traveling labor, incentives, and general understanding of the quality & level of detail of typical subcontractor pricing submissions. 
  • Resourcefulness: Ability to creatively and effectively manage challenges and difficulties, including coming up with potential solutions and collaborating with key stakeholders to accomplish goals. 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with experience collaborating across diverse teams and stakeholders, including ability to lead meetings and influence a group. 
  • Ability to build relationships with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to drive project success. 
  • Familiarity with labor market trends and resource constraints in the construction industry. 
  • Familiarity with US construction, including terminology, labor sources and pricing standards  
  • QS skill sets are a plus. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and adapt to changing project requirements. 

 

 

The salary range for this role is between $109,000 and $145,000 btu actual salary offered is dependent on skill set, education and experience
